CONTROL ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER GRADE A: AIR QUALITY AUTHORISATIONS POSTS REF NO: CCAQ07/2025 (X2 POSTS)

SALARY: R612,480 (OSD) annually CENTER: Pretoria A four-year degree in natural or environmental management or sciences (NQF Level 8) or an equivalent degree in a similar discipline is required, as is six years of relevant post-degree experience. Understanding of industrial processes and abatement technologies, particularly those pertaining to air and atmosphere emissions; the National Environmental Management Air Quality Act; regulatory requirements, processes, and procedures for atmospheric emission licenses; and Environmental Impact Assessment procedures. Knowledge management, innovation in service delivery, problem-solving and analysis, people management and empowerment, stakeholder involvement, public relations research, client relations, client orientation and customer focus communication, strategic capacity, and leadership. DUTIES: Oversee and review applications for licenses to emit air pollutants within legally mandated time constraints. Examine the compliance reports for atmospheric emission licenses and provisional licenses for all sites that have started operations. Environmental Impact Assessment papers must be reviewed within the allotted period. Oversee the departmental atmospheric emission license facilities’ emissions reporting obligations.
